Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), West Tripura conducted six days Skill Training for Rural Youth (STRY)

A six days MANAGE sponsored skill training programme on organic farming was conducted by KVK, West Tripura at its campus from 14th to 19th January, 2020. The main objective of the programme was to impart knowledge on organic farming and also to make them aware on adverse effect of using chemicals in agriculture, which directly or indirectly affecting the whole ecosystem. Total 20 nos. of rural youth from different villages of West Tripura participated in the six days training programme. In the inaugural day, Dr. Mandira Chakraborti, SMS (Agronomy) & in charge of KVK highlighted the importance of organic farming and demands of organic products in the market. Mr. Debashis Datta, course director of the programme has demonstrated the preparation of different organic products. Resource person from ICAR Tripura centre also taken classes on organic farming. The valedictory session of the programme was chaired by Dr. Biswajit Das, Joint Director (I/C), ICAR-Tripura centre. Dr. Anup Das, Principal Scientist (Agronomy), Dr. G. S. Yadav, Scientist (Agronomy) from ICAR-Tripura centre interacted and shared their knowledge with the participants. At the end, certificate has been given to the participants. The programme concluded with a positive note that healthy soil is required for a healthy crop, which can be possible by practicing organic farming.
